Forced Air Mechanical – Cleveland Wildcats – 2020 Top Gun – USA Sports Event “Rawlings Sunglasses”

July, 20, 2020

In their 5th tournament, the Cleveland Wildcats went 2 – 2 over Saturday and Sunday. The team started off strong with a 21-5 victory over JJs Fox Pen. After a lengthy break in between games, the boys came out of the gate flat against Greenville Athletics. At one point down 16-0, the boys started and incredible comeback. They scored 3 runs in the bottom of the 4th inning, then 5 runs in the bottom of the 5th to cut the lead to 16-8. In the 6th inning the Greenville team score 3 runs to go up 19-8. What happened next was nothing short of miraculous. Our boys proceeded to score and score at will in the bottom of the 6th inning. They cut the lead down to 1 at 19-18. With 2 outs and the tying run on 3rd base, smack, a hard line drive right to the second baseman for out number 3. A tough loss, but the boys were proud of their efforts. Everyone went home with their heads high ready to play again on Sunday.

A scorching hot Sunday afternoon started off as a defensive battle against the East Carolina Bombers 252 squad. That changed in a hurry as the Wildcats went from being up 10-5, to down 12-10 going into the top of the 6th inning. The Wildcats showed heart and quickly went up 18-12 going into the bottom of the 6th inning. In the bottom of the 6th inning, nothing would go right. Base hit after base hit, the Bombers crept back. Ultimately the Bombers handed the Wildcats a defeat on a walk-off hit to end the game 19-18. Another tough loss but the boys took it in stride. With championship dreams wiped away, it was time to refocus for the final game of the day and did they ever. In the final game against JJs Fox Pen, the Wildcats put a whooping on them. They came out of the gate strong and finished the tournament with a 16-1 victory. The parents could not have been prouder of the fight these boys showed over the course of the weekend. There were highs and lows all around, but the team left the tournament as winners in my book. Looking forward to the next tournament. AHHHHHHHHH Wildcats!!
